Rescues

We have big hearts here at Yorkys 4 U.... and we seem to "collect" rescues!
Some of our rescues are up for adoption, and some are not.... it just depends on the state of mind and health of the dog.
Most, are old and have been through a lot in their lives... For this reason, we feel that it is best that they stay here with us where they are most comfortable and settled.
However, From time to time we do have rescues that are up for adoption...
~~ Here are our rescues ~~

***NEW RESCUES***

A couple of months ago, I was called to rescue some kittens. Their mother was killed by a dog and they had to be nursed for several weeks. They are about 4 months old now and I still have 2 orange males.

They're VERY playful and healthy and I really need to find good homes for them!
And did I mention..... THEY'RE FREE TO GOOD HOMES!!!

GabbiGabbi
This is Gabbi!  She's such a sweet old Chihuahua.  We got her last year along with a black male (his name was Pablo)  Pablo didn't make it.... he's gone to the "Rainbow Bridge" where we know he will be happy forever!  Gabbi is very sweet and she is not your typical Chihuahua!  She loves other animals, kids, and believe it or not.... she's very playful when she wants to be!  We've seen her run and play with toys like she's a puppy, not an old dog!  She's timid, but not shy. We have no idea how old she really is, but her teeth indicate that she's either very old.... or was poorly cared for when she was younger.... which may very well be the case!  We rescued her "second-hand" from a man that "won her in a poker game" from an old drunk.  This man felt sorry for her and Pablo, and knew that they needed to be away from this man... who obviously didn't give them the care that they needed. That's when we came into the picture... and brought them here! Pablo died after being here only a couple of weeks, he was in such poor health.... but Gabbi has been thriving!
The only real problem that Gabbi has, is the way she walks!  Her legs are weak, and wobble when she walks, but when she runs... it's barely noticeable! Our Veterinarian told us that it could be, that she wasn't fed properly as a puppy and had something like "Rickets", but she gets along just fine in spite of this.... And because of it... She has a cute little "fancy-walk"!
We are not sure... but we think that Gabbi used to be a house dog.  She has become quite the escape-artist lately, and unless we keep her in our house, she will find a way out of the yard and onto the highway.  She prefers to be in the house, except on pretty days, when she loves to lounge in the sun in the back yard!  She is used to staying in a crate at night too.... and she loves it...as long as she has her big pillow to lay on! Since we have been keeping Gabbi in our house we have noticed a new dog come out in her... she has an undiscovered love for playing with the toys and lounging on the couch!
Here at Yorkys 4 U, We absolutely adore Gabbi.... and if she never finds her "forever-home", at least we know that she's happy here as long as she's in the house like the queen she deserves to be!

*** UPDATE ON GABBI *** 6/27/2006 ***
Gabbi decided that she wanted to dig out of our back yard the other day. She has done this a few times before and been "saved" by caring neighbors from certain death on the highway, but this time..... I could not find her.  None of my neighbors have seen her, she's not laying dead on the side of the road, she's not at the animal shelter, and she had her collar and tag on!  She's been gone for almost 2 weeks now, and I don't think we are going to find her.  We just have to hope that she found her a new home where she can be happy!
